Learning Updates -

School of Possibilities

Places still available for nursing excursion

We have an exciting excursion opportunity coming up for anyone from Year 10 or 11 who is interested in the Medicine/Health/Nursing/Paramedicine/Allied Health industry as a career pathway. During the excursion early in Term 2, students get the opportunity to explore nursing as a career and experience life as a Nursing student, presented by current Nursing students and La Trobe University Shepparton staff.

The session includes information on the different ways to become a nurse, including the difference between Enrolled and Registered Nurse,  career options, Graduate year, Uni life, entry requirements, pathway options, fees and financial assistance, and suggested subjects to study in Years 11/12.

The highlight of the day is an engaging hands-on session in the Clinical Learning Unit working with the mannequins in a simulated hospital environment, led by the Nursing academics teaching the course. Although the session is focused on Nursing, it is also highly valuable for those who may be interested in related fields such as Paramedicine or Medicine, or for the students who may be a bit unsure. Students will be given time to research their own potential study area and plan ahead.

Places are limited so interested students please let Careers Practitioner Belinda Gleeson know ASAP via email: bgleeson@sackialla.catholic.edu.au
