Tech Term 2, 2023

Welcome back to Term 2 everyone!

The Tech Team are really excited to get into lots of hands on learning this term. 

We have started our year off with all things Online Safety. Being cyber safe is such an integral part of learning at Oatlands and we hope to revise strategies and processes that students can learn at school, that they can then take with them into their everyday learning and play, when using a device.

As we move into the term, our Prep-2 students are focusing their learning around following and creating algorithms. Students will experiment with new robotics, as well as online platforms, such as Scratch Junior to enhance their learning when coding and problem solving.

This term our Grade 3 and 4 students are focusing more on the Design Tech Curriculum, where they are connecting to all things Food Tech! Students will be exposed to The Australian Guide To Healthy Eating, as well as where food comes from, what seasonal foods can be grown and why food is so important for our overall health.

Lastly, our Grade 5 and 6 students will be exploring devices; their input and output components, the way they send and receive data and how the devices work when they are coded. Students will have the opportunity to work individually and in groups to code a Lego EV3 or Spike robot, where they will attempt to activate the input and output parts and sensors of these devices.
