Principal Report

Last Thursday, 27th of April, we held our ANZAC Day ceremony in the Stuart Daly gymnasium. For over two decades we have proudly held ANZAC Day ceremonies at Oatlands for our students, staff and the broader community to attend and pay their respects. This year we were able to return to a live and unrestricted ceremony after a few years of cancellations or recorded versions. The moving ceremony was attended by the Oatlands Choir, the whole student body, all staff and some of our parent community. In addition to this, a number of special guests from the Dept. of Education, local RSLs, Victoria Police and Oatlands School Council members were in attendance. The respect and attention displayed during the ceremony by all in attendance was very impressive, especially our younger students.

A huge thank you and congratulations to Ms Fiona Jamieson for organising the event and for her key role during the ceremony. Also, a very special thank you must go to our Student Leaders, Ayvah, Tate, Erinne, Naaz, Aara and Eva, for their outstanding conduct and performance during the ceremony.

If you are a member of our community and you haven’t attended either our ANZAC Day or Remembrance Day ceremony before, I highly recommend you do in the future. Our 2023 Remembrance Day ceremony will be held later this year in November, and you are most welcome to attend.
