Work Experience

Thank you to all the students who have returned Work Experience forms; however, their are still many outstanding.   If you have not handed in your forms or spoken with the Junior Resource Centre to arrange late submission, it needs to be done before the end of term.  Anyone who hasn’t submitted forms by the start of Term 2 will be followed up via their parents.  Please remember Work Experience is part of the Year 10 curriculum and all students must complete a placement.

Anyone having problems or needing assistance with Work Experience can go to the Junior Resource Centre for help during recess and lunchtimes, or contact Mrs Michelle Snooks on 97837955 or msnooks@fhs.vic.edu.au.

Tips for finding a placement:

  • Ask your friends and family for assistance as it is easier to secure a position at a company where you already have a contact.
  • Check the Work Experience Portal page for a list of past employers (Portal Home>Resource Centres>Year 10 Work Experience.
  • Ask friends where they have done Work Experience placements.
  • Get your placement secured as soon as possible as places are becoming scarce.

If anyone in the school community is able to host a student for a Work Experience placement between 22 – 26 June could you please contact Michelle Snooks on 9783 7955.  A number of students are struggling to find placements so any assistance would be much appreciated.

Seeking Host Families for our Soweto Student

For more than a decade, our student leaders have been actively promoting the wonderful relationship we have with our sister school, Letsibogo Girls High School in Soweto, South Africa.

Each year Frankston High School sponsors a student from Letsibogo and provides her with the opportunity of experiencing life and learning in a privileged environment, offering opportunities they may otherwise never experience.  The student is selected according to her potential to graduate from school and progress with further tertiary learning and a fulfilling career.

We are asking Frankston High School families to consider hosting our 2015  Letsibogo Girls’ High School student, Jess, for a period of four weeks. Jess is completing Year 11 at Frankston High School and host families are needed from April 2015 onwards.  Daily needs such as clothing, toiletries, pre pay mobile phone, public transport costs plus a $30 per week allowance are provided by the school. However, we would be relying on the generosity of host families to provide accommodation and food.

Receipts from public transport, phone cards for overseas calls (available from a newsagency) and mobile phone cards, etc, will be reimbursed from the Finance Office on the 7-10 Campus.

Please contact Anne Thomson on 0409 835 541 or email athomso@fhs.vic.edu.au for further enquiries.
