Happy Purim!

The festival of Purim will be celebrated this year on Wednesday 16th and Thursday 17th of March.  This is a traditionally joyous festival, celebrating the story when the Jews of the Persian Empire were saved through the bravery of Queen Esther from the wicked advisor to the king, Haman. This story teaches us all to have courage and integrity in the face of adversity. 

There is a custom to celebrate on this festival, by dressing up in fancy dress, retelling the Purim story, feasting, exchanging gifts of food and giving to charity.

חג פורים יצויין השנה ביום רביעי 16.3 וביום חמישי 17.3.

פורים הוא חג משמח, בו היהודים חוגגים את הצלת העם היהודי באמצעות גבורתה של אסתר המלכה, אשר מנעה את השמדת העם היהודי כפי שתוכנן על ידי יועץ המלך, המן הרשע.

מסיפור פורים אנו למדים כמה חשוב לשמור על יושרה ואומץ כאשר אנו נתקלים במצוקה או בחוסר הוגנות כלפי צד מסויים.

בפורים אנו נוהגים להתחפש, לאכול סעודת פורים, לקרוא את מגילת פורים, לחלק אוכל (משלוחי מנות), לתת צדקה ובעיקר לשמוח!  

Les fêtes de Purim ont été célébrées cette année les 16 et 17 mars.  Il s’agit de joyeuses célébrations traditionnelles qui marquent la libération des juifs de l’emprise de l’horrible conseiller du roi, Haman, par le courage de la reine Esther. Cette histoire nous donne une leçon de courage et d’intégrité lorsque nous affrontons des situations difficiles.

La tradition est de se costumer pour la fête, de raconter cette histoire, de partager un festin, d’échanger de délicieuses gâteries et donner aux œuvres de bienfaisance.
