Buddy Class Penpals

Buddy classes F1 and P15 have become penpals across the Magill School oval because we couldn't meet due to Covid.

Each child got a name to pair up with. They wrote to us and we have nearly finished our letters back to them.

We are using envelopes and drawing stamps on the envelopes and using the Magill school delivery service (walking over the oval).

This started a whole P15 investigation about, "What is a Penpal?" and how much communication has changed with technology over the years.

We have since now become penpals with Katie's mum as she donated worms to our worm farm and we are writing back and forth from P15 to Katie's Mum.

The children are so excited about the whole penpal adventure happening and receiving their letters.

Science with Schona

This week, in Year 2 Science, the children enjoyed learning about the structure of a flower and the process of pollination.  Firstly, they moulded a pipe cleaner into the shape of a pollinator. They then used paper cups, markers and a variety of brightly coloured pipe cleaners to create a flower with a stigma, anther, petals and nectar.  Finally, the children modelled the process of pollination by flying their insect from one flower to another, transferring pollen as they went! It was a creative and fun learning experience for all, as the children discovered the importance of pollinators and the big role they play, in helping plants to reproduce.
