Sport Update

EISM Division 1 Swimming Carnival

Kilvington performed brilliantly at the EISM Division 1 Swimming Carnival at MSAC on the evening of 15 March. We finished 5th overall (our second best ever result) and were winners of the Boys 15 YO age group.

What makes these results so significant is that nine of our swimmers were either ill or under COVID restrictions. This meant lots of last minute changes to ensure events were covered.

  • There were students who swam up in age groups (Year 7s who swam against Year 10s!).
  • Students who filled in for relay teams (many in older age groups).
  • Two students who joined the team on the day, one at 3.00pm!
  • Some students who swam extra individual events - just to record as many points as possible for our School.

Mr Bishop said, 'There were some remarkable achievements from our students and it was a true test of character. Our star swimmers continued to shine, winning many races. Our Year 12 students showed fantastic leadership and were great role models. We are very proud of the whole team.'

Congratulations to the following students who will now proceed to the Champions event at the end of the month:

  • Annie Steele: 1st 100m Freestyle, 1st 50m Freestyle A, 1st 50m Breaststroke, 1st 50m Butterfly

  • Greta Saville: 2nd 100m Freestyle, 1st 50m Freestyle A, 1st 50m Backstroke, 1st 50m Butterfly

SPECIAL CONGRATULATIONS

We have more sensational news to share about Kilvington star swimmers, Liam Molloy, Greta Saville and Annie Steele, who all performed brilliantly at the EISM Swimming Carnival.

What you won't know is that just a few days before, all three of them swam at the State Championships and did extremely well!

Liam won three silver medals (200m freestyle, 4 x 50 medley relay and 400m freestyle) and one bronze in the 100m freestyle.

As a result of his performance, Liam has been picked up by Swimming Victoria’s development squad! Greta Saville won two bronze medals (200 and 400m freestyle) and placed 5th in the 100m freestyle and 6th in the 50m freestyle. She achieved PBs in all her races!

Annie Steele won bronze medals in the 100m freestyle and 200m individual medley. She placed 4th in the 50m freestyle (PB) and 50m breaststroke and came 5th in the 200m freestyle!

These talented students will now progress to the National Finals! We could not be more proud! Congratulations Liam, Greta and Annie!
