Prep students learning colours in French

In French classes, Prep students were tactile learners and loved a hands-on approach to learning their colours in French!

Year 2 Escape Room game 

Year 2 French students recently enjoyed an escape room game.

 

Can they escape in time? 

 

Students raced against the clock, frantically decoding words and weather puzzles to get the clues they needed to solve the encryption!

Junior French co-curricular activities 

Our Junior French co-curricular activities have now well and truly started.

 

FRENCH STORY TIME 

French story time with Madame Dickens every Thursday is an opportunity for Prep to Year 2 students to listen to a story in French, learn new vocabulary and cultural information as well as enjoy a coloring mindful activity relating to the story. 

For any families interested in reading bilingual fairy tales in French, the fablecottage website is a good resource. 

 

JUNIOR SCHOOL FRENCH CLUB 

Madame Mullins’ fun and exciting Junior School French Club got off to an exciting start with a highly charged competition of Pétanque in our first week, followed by an even more intense Escape Room in the second! In our third week, we will make short bio videos to send to potential email pals at our partner school in France!

TheJunior School French Club is open to Years 3 to 6 students every Monday at lunchtime in Room J3. 

Education Perfect Languages Championship - Senior School Results 

Congratulations to the Kilvington students who participated in the Education Perfect Languages Championship! Our school ranked 12th in Victoria which is an incredible achievement considering we were competing against schools with much larger Languages faculties. 

 

Our results are even more impressive in comparison with schools of a similar size to ours - 4th for Japanese in Victoria and 2nd for French, overall placing Kilvington in 6th position out of 88 schools in Victoria!

 

A very big BRAVO to the following 11 students who received awards. 

In Japanese classes …

YEAR 7 

Year 7 students celebrated the Year of the Tiger by writing messages for the 'wishing board'.

They also started to learn quite a lot of Hiragana and used a Hiragana Karate board work to measure their achievement week by week!
