School Highlights

Harmony Week

To celebrate Harmony Week, our Junior School and ELC students have created this beautiful mandala with the help of Miss Tham.

If you get a chance, pop into the Junior School Reception and take a look.

A big thank you to the ELC and Junior School for embracing Harmony Day and our Food Drive for the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre (ASRC)!

Our Junior School Community Service Leaders, Brianna Barnes and Lottie Geremia, and their team of assistants (Nirvi Bijwal, Xavier Misso, Adam Sheridan, Sophie Nation, Milana Skrypnyk and Nina Seuret-Batterham), did a great job of collecting and sorting all the goods and packing Mrs Goldenberg's car!

Thank you and well done!

International Women's Day presentation

On 16  March, Year 9 student Aiva Anagnostiadis gave a short presentation to the Junior School for International Women's Day.

Aiva has been racing karts since she was seven, following in the footsteps of her mum who raced at the same age. Aiva now races full size karts and drives at speeds of up to 120kph! She is seen as one of the top drivers in her age group in Australia and her ambition is to win the Indy 500 in the US.

Aiva explained that motorsport is the only sport where men and women can compete against each other equally.

She said, 'Karting and motorsport is for everyone. The sport requires many skills that both males and females have equally, and everyone can be involved - not only as a driver, but as an engineer, a team manager, a marketer and many other jobs up and down the pit lane.'

Thank you Aiva for sharing your passion!

Quill Awards for Excellence in Victorian Journalism

Iva Roncevic and Ashleigh Cavalin, Senior English Teachers

On Friday 18 March, a number of Kilvington students and their teachers had the opportunity to attend the Quill Awards for Excellence in Victorian Journalism at the Palladium at Crown in the city.

The awards are held by the Melbourne Press Club which has a long-standing relationship with the School. They celebrate the best work in media in over 30 categories including print, television, radio, photography and social media.

Our English Captains, Amber Johnston and Diya Matthew, as well as School Captain, David Overton, and keen English student, Hunter Lee, had the wonderful opportunity of attending the awards. Alongside Channel 7 Sports Commentator Jacqui Felgate, both Diya and David also had the honour of presenting the prizes to the winners on the night.

The students were also lucky to meet Melbourne Lord Mayor, Sally Capp, who took great interest in their views on issues that are currently at the forefront of young adults in our city.

The highlight of the night included witnessing trailblazing female sports journalist Caroline Wilson honoured for her work with a lifetime achievement award. She ended her speech with the following advice for other young inspiring journalists: 'the best stories are always the ones you don’t want you to write.'

The Melbourne Press Club CEO, Cathy Bryson, was very welcoming and supportive of the students and organised a wonderful evening for Kilvington Grammar.

2022 Kilvonian Konnections event

On the evening of Friday 18 March, we were delighted to host our 2022 Kilvonian Konnections event with guest speaker, Julia Banks.

The former Kilvington student and Member of the Federal Parliament under Malcolm Turnbull and Scott Morrison delivered an extraordinary address on Gender Equity - Are We There Yet?

Thank you Julia for your compelling insights on what's been achieved to date, the work still to be done, and how we all have a part to play.
