Year 5

What an AMAZING start we have had to Year 5! It has been a busy few weeks learning new routines, making new friends and getting to know our classroom teachers.

Students have thoroughly enjoyed improving their social skills through team building activities and group work, where we have been learning about how to show respect, responsibility and resilience when working in a team or group.

In Year 5, students begun participating in the BYOD (bring your own device) program, it has been fantastic to see most students bring their laptops in. We have been learning how to explore the internet and use programs such as Microsoft Word, Microsoft Powerpoint and Minecraft Education.

In Mathematics, we have been learning how to use the acronym CUBES to solve place value and measurement and geometry problems. It has been fantastic to see all students thinking outside the box and trialling a range of strategies.

This week in Writing we began our Narrative unit of work. Students have been learning about the structure of a narrative by ordering jumbled up narratives, this will support them in ensuring they are using the correct structure when they begin writing their narratives next week!

We are extremely proud of how well all Year 5 students have settled into 2022.

We look forward to a fantastic year!
