Parent Helper Training

At Clyde PS we encourage our parents to take an active role in their child’s school life which in turn creates a positive effect on academic achievement. We greatly appreciate volunteer support in a range of whole school programs and classroom activities.

Programs and activities may include:

  • Listening to students read.
  • Supporting class activities such as cooking, arts and crafts etc.
  • Attending excursions and camps.
  • Providing administrative support, such as laminating teaching aids and covering library books.
  • Supporting fundraising activities e.g Mother's Day Stall
  • Joining the School Council.

To become a Parent Helper at Clyde PS, all volunteers must complete a Parent Helper Training session, this only needs to be completed once, and does not need to be done every year. We have an upcoming training session on Thursday 3rd March from 9:15-10:00am. If you are interested in registering please phone the office on 5998 5293. All parent helpers must be vaccinated.

Assemblies

On Monday 28th February at 9:15am, we will be holding our first whole school assembly for the year. This is an opportunity for all students and community members to get together and celebrate student achievement and learn more about what is happening in our school. This first assembly, will also be heavily dedicated to the badge presentation of our Year 6 Student Leaders and our Student Representative Council. Whole school assemblies take place outside on the basketball court and we invite all of our families to come along. In the case of poor weather, we will send a message on the morning to re-schedule the event for a later date.

Each term, we also run PLT (Professional Learning Team) assemblies. Parents and carers are also encouraged to attend. More information about these year level assemblies will be published on Compass. However, you may wish to save the date:

Curriculum Focus - Term 1

This term all students from Foundation-Year 6 will develop their capabilities in Science through our STEM program and within classrooms. These scientific programs will give the students the

opportunity to investigate the world around them and the way it has changed as a result of human activity. Our students will have the opportunity to explore, ask questions and speculate on the changing world in which we live. The program will have a foundation in biological, chemical, physical Earth and space sciences.

Tutor Learning Program 2022

The Victorian Government has again invested additional funding to extend the Tutor Learning Initiative for the 2022 school year. This program at Clyde Primary will support students who are at risk of falling behind due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Our tutoring staff Beryl Campbell, Kerrie Horrocks and Nat George, will support students through tutoring or small group learning support.  Work has begun in program, looking at academic growth over past 12 months. Eligible students for Intake 1 will be notified shortly via a letter.

School Council Nominations

All government schools in Victoria have a school council. They are legally constituted bodies that are given powers to set the broad direction of a school, in accordance with Ministerial Order 1280 Constitution of Government School Councils, and the Education and Training Reform Act 2006. In doing this, a school council may directly influence the quality of education for students. Parents on school council provide important viewpoints and have valuable skills that can help shape the directions of our school.

Our School Council are calling for nominations for 6 parent members. Nomination forms are available at the school office and must be lodged by 4:00 pm on Monday 21st February.
