Focus on Learning

Mrs Rebecca Hofman - Leader of Pedagogy

Welcome to 2022!

This year is shaping up to be another fantastic year, with many opportunities for our students to continue their academic, spiritual, cultural and sporting growth.

In 2022, our relentless focus on learning continues. Our Annual Improvement Plan highlights the areas of Reading, Writing, Mathematics and Religious Education as our focal points for this year underneath the ‘Quality Learning and Teaching’ banner. As the year progresses, you will hear lots about the many strategic practices we are putting in place to support our students’ academic growth, such as our Literacy Learning Hubs, Learning Sprints and our newly developed program, ‘STARS' - A Support Program for Reading Success at St. Joseph’s School.

Alongside this, a deeper embedding of our Living Well, Learning Well Framework continues, as does our focus on supporting our Indigenous students with greater cultural links and academic support.

Lastly, strong communication and increased parental engagement in all aspects of school life is also a priority in our Annual Improvement Plan.  Plans are already underway to find and create authentic opportunities for our parent body and wider school community to be involved in their child’s education. It is no secret that positive family involvement is crucial to students’ success and we look forward to building further opportunities for our community to be active participants in the education of our students!

Each week, this section of the newsletter will highlight and celebrate the teaching and learning at St. Joseph’s School and we look forward to sharing in another busy, wonderful and successful year with you all!
