SMART Spelling
The Prep children all really enjoyed starting their SMART Spelling journey last week. We began by learning the letters and sounds in the word ‘cat.’
The Preps all had so much fun creating their own cats and listening to cat stories throughout the week such as The Cat in the Hat by Dr Seuss and Greedy Cat by Joy Cowley.
This week we are moving on to the sounds /a/, /n/ and /t/ and thinking about how they go together to make the word ‘ant.’
Resilience Project
On Monday, the Prep children were lucky to have Elias from The Resilience Project come to BNPS to talk about what makes us happy.
We all got to enjoy some entertaining animations explaining to us what gratitude, empathy and mindfulness were and how, by practicing these in our lives each day, we will feel happier.
The Preps were asked to practice gratitude by saying ‘dis’ (as in, ‘this (dis) moment is great’) whenever they were enjoying something they felt lucky to have or experience like a dance, a yummy dinner or a fun game with friends.
Maths
It was pure coincidence that the Preps were thinking about the number 2 on what became known as Twosday.
On Tuesday the 22/2/22 the Preps thought all about the number 2 and how we can represent the number 2 in a variety of ways.
