Meet the School Improvement team - 2022
My name is Meghann Wurm and I am the co-leader of the Teaching and Learning committee. Our committee will be focusing on implementing and refining the extensive curriculum development and documentation work we undertook throughout 2021. From an English perspective, our work will focus on the consistent implementation of a structured two-hour Literacy block, with the continued support of English Consultant, Stephen Graham. We will plan and deliver our English teaching and learning programs with a specific text-type focus in all year levels, with students given opportunities to construct and deconstruct texts, whilst mastering the Literacy skills associated with the text type.
My name is Shelley Wockner, and I will be co-leading the Teaching and Learning committee alongside Meghann Wurm. The focus of the committee's work this year will centre around the continued development and refinement of our assessing and reporting practices as well as our teaching and learning programs. From a Mathematics perspective, the key work within this realm will be focussed on implementing the professional learning we have undertaken as a staff that has been guided by Mathematics Consultant, Kathryn Palmer. We endeavour to continue our commitment to providing rich learning experiences that foster deep student understanding.
My name is Brenda Elliott and I'm excited to be the leader of the Future Focused Learning committee at Mackellar Primary School.
This year we will continue our work in empowering students to take ownership of their learning by providing an environment which is flexible, innovative and challenging and which will foster students to strive together to find and solve real-world problems that matter.
Future Focused Learning promotes student agency, voice and leadership. Through the ongoing development of our teaching and learning documents our committee will continue to implement and expand our inquiry learning curriculum.
My name is Joanne Wood and I am the Wellbeing Leader at Mackellar Primary School. I will be overseeing the School Wide Positive Behaviour Committee and Student Leadership at Mackellar. The focus will be School Wide Positive Behaviour, Buzz awards, student agency, voice and student leadership this year.
We will be running Buddy Grades across the school under the Alannah Madeline Foundation framework. The committee will reintroduce clubs at Mackellar for students to attend during lunchtimes at the start of Term 1 Week 5.
My name is Sally Wilson and I have the role of Community Engagement and Staff Wellbeing Committee leader this year. The team and I are looking forward to building partnerships with parents and developing our school community connection. Your involvement is valued, and we look forward to suggestions on how best to reconnect in person after our last two years apart. The staff too will be reconnecting our sense of community with you, students, and each other, as we have in the past, through professional development and curriculum day activities. The team is excited to start, and we look forward to marking days of significance such as ANZAC day, Mother’s Day, National Sorry day, and cultural celebrations in class and with input from you.
Hello Mackellar Community, I hope you are all having a BUZZING day. I am Stephanie Sousa and I’m the leader of the IDEAS School Management Team at Mackellar Primary School. This year’s focus is to continue the wonderful work of Dr Joan Conway and Dr Dorothy Andrews in bringing to life Mackellar’s shared vision and forming a school-wide pedagogy. My team and I will work closely with Joan and Dorothy to achieve our goals. We are all very excited to be a part of this journey in improving Mackellar and we hope that you are as excited as our staff members. Make sure you tune in to keep up to date with your journey.
