What's happening in our classrooms 

Welcome to Grade 1! 

This week our Grade 1s have enjoyed getting to know their new classmates and their teachers. We have done some fun activities where the students have learnt more about each other whilst settling back into our school routines.

Robot Shapes

One of the Maths activities students enjoyed this week was designing and building a robot which had a line of symmetry and included a range of 2D shapes. Students used materials to create their robots and enjoyed experimenting with a range of different designs. They took a picture of their final robot design on their iPads and marked in the line of symmetry.

Where is the Green Sheep?

This week students also participated in a fun writing experience lesson based on the story ‘Where is the Green Sheep’ by Mem Fox. After listening to the story, students completed a scavenger hunt by searching around the school for the hidden sheep. Once all the sheep had been found, they wrote about their experiences. This helped our students practise using descriptive language to explain where the sheep were located.
