Deputy Principals report

Connecting to the Past, Creating the Future

One of the most important foci for us as a school has been the reintegration and reanimation of school life from when we were in isolation during remote learning, to being back onsite full time. As restrictions ease, we have been able to include more events and activities that have allowed us to, in a sense, rebuild the school culture.  This is also about returning to a more familiar structure and a degree of certainty which students of all ages crave.

Our Leadership Induction assemblies have always been significant annual events, but

I believe that last week’s held special significance for our community, as they helped our students to reconnect to their school again. Conducted with much formality and sense of occasion, our new leaders are presented with their badges by Mr Robertson, sign their name on the pages that will go into our Leaders’ Book, and commit to an oath of service to their school and peers. These are the rituals and traditions that help build our culture and, allow those currently in the school to connect with those that have gone through in

the past.

Pleasingly, a testament to the culture we are seeking to foster, was the manner in which the students in the audience of all three assemblies displayed respect and courtesy to their peers being inducted.

Prior to the commencement of the school year, our new leaders from all three schools gathered for our first student leadership workshop.  The program included targeted training from members of our School Executive, the opportunity to brainstorm ideas and to begin developing action plans.  We are keen to further enhance student led initiatives and, student voice across the school and the workshop set the scene for what promises to be a great year.
