Tournament of Minds

On Saturday the 17th of August, Eight teams of eager Girton students arrived at La Trobe University Bendigo to compete in the Victorian Regional Final for Tournament Of Minds.

This was a great day filled with lots of excitement, laughs, creativity and teamwork. Over the past five weeks, students have been working hard to prepare a solution to a challenging problem, which they perform in a 10 minute skit to a panel of judges. This took a lot of creativity and enthusiasm from each and every team member to ensure that they were ready for the big day.

The teams also completed a spontaneous challenge where they were given a question and they had five minutes to collaborate and come up with a solution to the problem and had a minute to present their ideas to the judges.

Our Girton teams did extremely well gaining first place in all eight of the categories. We are now excited to announce, for the first time in Girton Tournament of Minds history, that we are taking all eight of our teams to La Trobe Bundoora for the State Finals. These are held on the 8th of September, where the teams will be given a completely new challenge to solve in a three hour lockdown.

Thank you to Mr Parry, Ms Milner, Mrs Bath, Mr Ruddick, Mrs Maruff, Alexi Ginis, Ella Fletcher and Zoe Hilson. And all the friends and family that came to support the teams on the day. The tournament wouldn't have been possible without all your enthusiasm, support and contributions over the past few weeks.
