Celebration of Learning

Come one, come all! Come and celebrate your child’s learning tomorrow night from 5.30pm - 7.30pm. Every class across both campuses will be out to share the learning that has taken place throughout the year. Every year level will be sharing their journey in different ways. Come along at any time during the evening and don’t forget to check out what your child has been focusing on during Japanese, Music, Art and Physical Education in the Art rooms at Buninyong and Scotsburn. 

This evening is structured to showcase learning that has taken place throughout the year. The main goals of the evening are to:  

Provide students with the opportunity to connect further with their learning by prompting them to reflect on their goals and learning in general.  

Provide an opportunity for parents to gain a greater understanding of what their child is learning and how they are learning in class. 

Although there will be opportunities to chat informally with teachers during the evening, it is not a formal interview. If you wish to speak to your classroom teacher in more detail, we ask that you arrange a time for a meeting after the evening.

Transition from kinder to prep underway

We all know that it’s a significant step from kinder to primary school, so putting things in place to take the anxiety out of that process is a good thing. For us that begins with visits from our local pre-school and last week we had our 4 year old groups from Buninyong Pre-School spending some time with us. As the photos suggest, our existing preps enjoy being the ‘big kids’ and relish the opportunity to make our kinder visitors feel comfortable. 

Pre-Schooler program reminder

Pre-Schooler Program – Our 4 year old pre-school students are invited to come along to these sessions and will participate in a different activity each week of the program. To work in with pre-school routines, sessions at our Buninyong Campus will run on Wednesdays and Fridays, with participants coming to one or the other, not both. The dates for this year’s program are: 

Buninyong Campus: 

Session 1 - October 9 & 11

Session 2 - October 16 & 18

Session 3 - October 23 & 25

Session 4 - October 30 & November 1

Scotsburn Campus (Wednesdays only):

Session 1 - October 9 

Session 2 - October 16 

Session 3 - October 23

Session 4 - October 30

Sessions 1 & 2 will run from 10 - 11am and sessions 3 & 4 from 9:30am – 11am. To enrol your child in this program, simply call the ladies in the office and register their name 5341 3560.

Collaborative Learning Opportunities

During these last couple of weeks of term students will be involved in some collaborative learning opportunities. This will involve two year levels combining to share their learning journey. Collaborative learning opportunities are a wonderful way for students to share their learning, build cooperative learning skills, gain a greater understanding of different perspectives and in some cases even take on the role of learning guide. These days often see students involved in productive, highly engaging learning tasks which build throughout the day or even over the two days that the students are involved. I am sure you will hear more about this at home as your child participates in these sessions in the lead up to the holidays.
