Skype in the Classroom

For Inquiry this term, the Year 5/6 students are learning about all things science! One of the most brilliant things about technology is the opportunities it has created in the world of education.

On Thursday last week, the students had a live Skype Q&A with an archaeologist from the University of Queensland named Dr Serena Love. Dr Love completed her PhD at Stanford University and even discovered a mummy in a tomb in Egypt!

She was so interesting to hear from and the children came up with so many thoughtful questions to ask her such as:

- which high school subjects helped you to get into your university course?

- what is the most interesting artefact you've ever found?

- did you always know you wanted to be a scientist?

Dr Love was really inspiring, particularly for the young girls in Year 5 and 6 who may be thinking about pursuing a career in the field of science.
