Year 7

Year 7

Each week in the first term a different Year 7 homeroom from St Bede's went to Phillip Island for camp. All classes stayed on a school owned property named Cypress Lodge which is near Smiths Beach, and they did various activities over the four days that each class stayed.

One of the biggest parts of the camp program was going to the beach where we went boogie boarding, rock pool jumping and played games of beach cricket. Classes also went boarding down huge sand dunes into the water.

Another great activity that all classes enjoyed was the three hour fishing trip. We went out on the Western Port bay on a fishing boat called the Sharon Lee 2 which is a tour, and fishing boat. Some students caught some very large fish but the student who caught the biggest was William Oliver from 7.3.

At Cape Patterson students participated in a fossil dig run by a paleontologist from Monash University, we broke open rocks and looked for leaf fossils and even some dinosaur bones. The animal wildlife park was also memorable and we were able to feed kangaroos, emus and even the dinosaur-like Cassowary.

All the home room teachers were a great help. The Year 7 students would also like to thank Mr Anderson, Mr Strom and Mr Shannon for all their help with the cooking, supervision and organizing the activities throughout camps.

The experience is definitely one we will all remember when we look back on our time in Year 7.
