Principal's Report

This year is flying by with many highlights, providing plenty of reasons to celebrate all that is great about Carwatha College P 12.

Students have been engaged in a variety of learning activities in, and beyond,  the classroom including the grade 3 and 4 excursion to Coal Creek, Cross Country for secondary and primary students, Victorian State School Spectacular rehearsals, GALA sport days for year 5 & 6 students, Inter-school Sport for all year levels of the secondary school and excursions for our Year 12 Business Management and Legal Studies classes which certainly have catered for the diversity of student interests at our school.

Thank you to all the staff who have organized these activities for our students. An extra congratulations goes out to our intermediate girls Volleyball team Marcella Trinh, Naduwa Baika, Mela Basic, Sara Jevtic, Sara Knezevic, Laura Kustura, Belinda Zaccaria, Amber Dimoski and Aila Dozic and their coach Mr Pieta who made the state final.

A whole school assembly with Preston Centuolo encouraged our students to see beyond obstacles and recognise each of us has immeasurable value no matter what our past or present circumstances.

On Monday June 18th our V3 students commenced the second semester and the transition from first semester has been smooth.

Students have completed in the annual NAPLAN and Students Attitudes to School Surveys. Our College will use the survey results to plan programs and activities to improve your child’s schooling experience and to support improvement in Literacy and Numeracy learning outcomes.

Reports for first semester are currently being completed and will be available to parents and students on the last day of the term, Friday June 29th via the Compass portal. I encourage all parents to read the report with their child. It is important that each student reviews their first semester achievements as well as having a clear understanding as to what is required to improve.

I would like to remind all parents and guardians that school will finish at 2.30 on our last day of Term 2 June 29th .

In term 3 we start preparing for 2019 and our V3 course information night will be held for parents and guardians on July 25th at 6.00 pm, I encourage all parents to attend.

Course counselling/subject selection appointments for parent(s) / guardian(s) will be held for year 10 students going into year 11 on July the 31st and for year 9 students going into year 10 on August the 2nd. I encourage all families as they read the reports to start thinking about which subjects they would like to study next year, or which pathway, VCE or VCAL they would like to follow.

The College Council have elected a new school Council President for the remainder of the year. I would like to thank Julie Hallett for taking on this role, Julie has been a school council member for many years and has successfully filled the role of Vice President previously. I look forward to working closely with her. Our current president Michelle Coxhill cannot continue to hold the position as she is now a Department of Education and Training employee. Michelle thankfully will continue to be a member of the council. Michelle has been an outstanding president and I would like to thank her for the support she has provided me as Principal of Carwatha College P 12

Congratulations to all students and staff who have been involved in sports teams this semester. Carwatha College P 12 is currently in first place in the Greater Dandenong District. We may be small in numbers but are big in talent.

Finally I would like to wish all a safe and relaxing holiday, and look forward to next term which commences on  Monday July 16th.
