Weeks 3 & 4

We've been busy! With Athletics, Mothers Day and excursions and lots of learning we are working on achieving our goals and developing our skills. Students have tried new things and moved outside of their comfort zones. Thanks to our parents who have supported us with these extra curricula activities.  It was such a lovely day having many parents come to Ath's Day, so many lovely mums at our Mother's Day afternoon tea and Wendy Bell for coming with us to the Gruffalo.

READING & WRITING

We have been exploring non-fiction in great detail.  Making predictions about what we think we will learn and how we know we are going to learn.  Students have been identifying features of non-fiction texts such as headings, photos, glossary, contents and captions.  We will be developing our comprehension of non-fiction in the coming weeks.

MATHS

Students have been exploring the language of movement and position.  We've recently been developing our knowledge of 3D objects by naming the objects and describing them.  Today we did a 3D object scavenger hunt and students had to use reasoning for the difference between a 2D shape and a 3D object.  Chat with your child about what they now know.

Excursion, Mother's Day & Athletics Day

Such fun when we can learn in different environments.  The Gruffalo was a terrific stage show! The actors captured their audience and entertained us with singing, dancing and humor.  Students knowledge of the story and setting helped them to appreciate the characters as they played out the story that we are so familiar with.  If you're looking for some entertainment during school holiday breaks, I know they are showing The Cat in the Hat in September @ The Drum Theatre, Dandenong!
