SAPSASA Tennis

Miss Romeo has been coaching the Port SAPSASA tennis team this week. Largs Bay was represented by Sara, Clarice, Monet and Cooper. The team played well all week against some very strong competition.

Reconiliation Relay

During week 4 of term 4, Largs Bay School was involved with the Reconciliation Relay.

The Reconiliation Relay involves a Message stick and a box for items to be placed in. The Message Stick is a communication tool used traditionally  to establish peace and fairness while Aboriginal groups moved from one part of the country to another.

The Message Stick and box, passed on to us by Le Fevre Primary School, was only here for a short time, so while they were here Jade and Marcus (rm 30) presented the items from the box to a few classes. We then took the Stick and box over to Kura Yerlo Kindy with Nykita (rm32) and Finlay (rm29).

It is an activity that 25 schools take part in over 2 weeks and gives schools and the community the opportunity to see what other schools have been doing whilst on their journey of Reconciliation.

This activity funded by Port Adelaide/Enfield Council has given our school the opportunity to create a large outdoor sign visual to our community similar to our interior door signs. Our school will be developing 4 signs; the funding for the other three funded by Reconciliation SA through a Partnerships grant for Reconciliation. Please look out for these large Ninna Marni (welcome) signs around the school over the next week or two.

LeFevre Concert Band

Last Thursday the Le Fevre concert band which comprises of students from North Haven to Alberton PS played in the hall. The Band featured Tamara Fergusson and Ryan Gencarelli who are both in year 7.

Hopefully there will be some year 5s from Largs joining the band in 2017.
