Art Club

Art club meet every Tuesday and Thursday at lunchtime in Room 4.  Students from a variety of year levels attend each week and work on both individual artworks and group projects.

At present, we are working on a group mural which is designed to both inspire students and be a focus in teaching when discussing design elements and principles.

Our Art Captains Grace Kirk and Katie Walton attend regularly and are wonderful roll models for the younger students. They are presently organising a facebook site for Art Club, so students can share ideas and discuss Art online.

VET Acting

Exciting news for the first year students of the Vet Acting course as they were able to work as extras on the set of 'Upper Middle Bogun'. Feedback from director and production was very positive saying....

”Students took direction well from our assistant directors and conducted themselves in a professional manner. We would definitely have them back on set again in the future.”

Another informative and exciting industry time was also had when students visited the Arts Hub of Abbotsford Convent, where ex-Neighbours Casting Director Jan Russ spoke about how to screen-test.  She chose many students to work with on their chat to camera.  This was a very hands on session giving students the idea and knowledge of what they have to do when first casting.

Chris Peters, Stunt Coordinator, recently inducted as an Australian film Industry pioneer delivered a very practical session on Acting. This session helps actors extend their physicality within scripted work.

Second year students also worked with Jan Russ, Casting Consultant.  Students were screen-tested individually and given extended crits about their work in front of camera. They also worked with a Television Producer who talked about industry needs and how to present themselves on screen, how to talk about themselves and clues about what’s needed when auditioning. This was a great session for confidence building. Amongst other excursion sessions, students worked on directing, how to shoot television content, make-up for screen and how to write CV’s for job applications.

More industry sessions are planned for Semester 2 for VET Acting students; how to get an agent with a well-respected and known Melbourne agent, visits to sets, (productions permitting) and for second year students, putting them through their paces with a screen test with a television producer.

The course continues to give the students current information, knowledge and skills with its connections to Melbourne’s Film and Television industry maintaining real industry exposure.

We look forward to another exciting semester.
