Band!

Yarra Brass Quintet Workshop 

On Tuesday 6th March, we were fortunate enough to have the Yarra Brass Quintet come to SHS to present a small concert and workshop with our students and students from McGuire and Wanganui.

It was a great opportunity for our students to see professional musicians perform and get to learn from them when they were playing along with the students in the workshop. The group consists of two Trumpets, French Horn, Trombone and Bass Trombone, which was played by former McGuire student Simon Baldwin.

Be Part of Our Band!

Learning a musical instrument has been proven to have many benefits to a student’s overall education, such as improved marks across other subject areas and a higher IQ. So, having said that, now is the time to Be Part of the Band!

Music lessons and band have restarted for the year and anyone, from any year level, who is interested can join. It’s never too late to start. We currently have instruments available on all Brass, Woodwind, Percussion and String instruments, as well as voice. All Year 7 students will have the opportunity to sign up for the band at the Welcome night on the 14th March. We look forward to seeing you there.
