Dear Parents and Students,
The past fortnight has seen much activity as our orientation program has been in full swing. Our year 10 and 11 students have been able to get a “head start” on their courses for 2020 by familiarising themselves with VCAA study designs, background material and assessment styles. All students will have some tasks to complete over the break in order to better prepare themselves for the 2020 academic year. These tasks are to be finished by day 1 of term 1, which is Wednesday January 29 2020.
Year 12 Results
Students completing Year 12 subjects were able to access their results last week. We hope all of our year 12 students have achieved results that match or exceed their expectations. A breakdown of results is in this newsletter and once again the school has received some amazing results.
For the first time in Victoria there are early offers for tertiary courses. These came out 2 days ago for the majority of courses from all Victorian Universities. Courses that require extra information to be submitted by students or involve an interview will not be offered until mid-January 2020. This includes Global Challenges, Medicine etc.
Olympiad Summer School
Congratulations to 3 of our students, Isaac Wu, Caitlyn Lewis and Ravon Chew who have all received invitations to attend Olympiad summer schools in Physics, Earth and Environmental science and Biology respectively at ANU in Canberra over January. Hopefully these students will go on to represent Australia in these subject areas in 2020.
Finally I would like to congratulate Erin Hayley, Catherine Gallus, Steph Roper and their student team on their efforts in completing a superb school magazine this year. Each year the magazine gets better and better and I would recommend perusing this edition to get a sense of all of the amazing events and achievements that have characterised the 2019 JMSS year.
I would like to wish all members of the JMSS community a safe and relaxing festive period and look forward to seeing you all in 2020
