History

On Wednesday 1st April, during the first week of the school holidays, we travelled by train to Melbourne on an excursion to expand our knowledge about past Australian historical events and the development of Victoria.
Our first stop was the Melbourne Museum where we travelled back through time to the settlement of Victoria and learnt about the early settlers to
Melbourne, the Gold Rush and the road to Federation. We also visited the exhibitions of the Human Body, the Mind, Natural History and the Aboriginal cultural centre, Bunjilaka.
We then walked down to Melbourne Central for a bite to eat before we entered the State Library of Victoria. We were amazed by the architecture of the building and felt the atmosphere in the building to be very calm and learning orientated.
Our afternoon was spent competing in a scavenger hunt around the city locating well know statues, buildings and historical areas of the CBD. It was then time for some free time of shopping in the city before departing on the train to make our way back to Shepparton.
