From the Chaplain

A Heart-Warming Start

It has been a delightful start to 2020 with the attitude of Kilsyth students infusing the school with excitement of their arrival to school last week.   As I walked into work on the first day of the school year, I was most impressed to hear a father speak to his young son about the importance of caring for others and I listened as he was encouraged to watch out for other students who may need help.  This was such a joy to hear!  The interaction has since caused me to reflect on the wonderful parents we have as a part of our school community and of course consider what Kilsyth Primary's core value of respect looks like in practice.

At Kilsyth Primary we seek to demonstrate respect by valuing others through action.  This means we do our upmost to exhibit kindness and patience as we engage in relationship with others as this values them as individuals.  This is important as it models for the students that we are also expecting them to join in as part of creating a culture of kindness to one another regardless of difference.   As chaplain at Kilsyth, I know all children will struggle from time to time as they learn the necessary skills of friendships.  May I encourage each and every parent to join with the example of the Dad I overheard on the first day by encouraging all our lovely Kilsyth Primary students to attitudes and acts of kindness that create and include all students in positive relationships and a great year of growing friendships.

Who am I?

I have two adult children, one who is married and one who is to be married in March this year.   I am also most fortunate to have a grandson who at 7 years old has been raised within the supports of his collective family.    Located at Kilsyth each Monday and Thursday, I am available to met with parents and students as a part of providing support to each regardless of belief or circumstances.  I genuinely care about the well being of your child within the school and beyond.  I am willing to hear your concerns and partner with you in finding options that support you in your role as the most important person in your child's life.

I can be contacted via the school office.
