National Championship Tournament

One of our year 6 students, Christopher, competed in Queensland recently in the National Karate Championship tournament. It was a huge tournament, with a large group from New Zealand rounding out the mix from all over Australia. It was a positive atmosphere throughout the tournament with families and friends cheering each other on and supporting competitors form their club.

Christopher was grouped in the 10-11year Male section, 3rd Kyu and above, (brown belt and above).  He placed 1st in Kata and 1st in Kumite/Sparring – in the National tournament!!! Congratulations to you Christopher!

He was also part of a team for Kata in the Junior Open Division of 3rd Kyu and above, (which meant they were competing against black belts, 1st Dan and those going for their 2nd Dan) very tough competition.  What an awesome effort for placing 3rd in this section, with really good feedback from the judges about their efforts.

Congratulations once again for all of your hard work and training to make it to this

level in a sport that you love.
