Soundworks Performance -

Victorian Schools Music Festival

On Monday, 11 November, 29 Year 7 music students boarded a bus after school and travelled to Hawthorn Arts Centre to perform at the Victorian Schools Music Festival in the Beginner Band section.

They performed two pieces, the beginner band classic “Geronimo” by the Australian composer Brian West and “Battle Of The Androids” by Rob Romeyn.

Both pieces were performed to a very high standard and although awards were not given, the adjudicators did rate the band on a number of performance criteria and gave an overall mark of "Excellent".

This would be the equivalent of a Gold Award in the higher sections of the festival.

Soundworks conductor, Mr. Ondaatje and I were very proud of all the students who behaved beautifully and were grateful for the support of the parents who came to watch.
