2018 Presentation Evening, Tuesday 18th of December

We are looking forward to our Presentation Evening next week (18/12, 7:00pm) at the Drum Theatre in Dandenong.  Our Presentation Evening is one of our most important events on the College Calendar allowing us to recognise student achievement across all learning areas and in a number of co-curricular activities from Year 7 to 12.

As part of the Presentation Evening, please be reminded that we have Susan Alberti as our key note speaker.  We are incredibly fortunate to have Susan as part of the night.  Susan has achieved so much in her life and we are really looking forward to hearing her message to our College Community as part of our Presentation Evening.

All families are invited to this very special event.  Please contact the General Office if you have any queries.

Building Program - Gym and Performing Arts Complex

The completion date for the Gym and Performing Arts Complex is now mid January, 2019.  We were hoping to be able to at least move some of our resources into the Complex by the end of this year but this will no longer be possible.  We are expecting to be able to use this state of the art facility when classes resume in 2019.

On another note, works to modernise the VCE Centre have commenced with works here expected to be completed during March, 2019.

Monitoring Student Progress - Assessment and Reporting

Please be informed that the student End of Semester Reports will be made available via Compass on Friday 21st of December.

It is timely to recognise our staff.   We really value the commitment shown by all of our staff as they have helped our students to grow with their learning in 2018.  We thank all our class room teachers and support staff for all of their hard work through the year in teaching and caring for our students.

Orientation Day, 2018

We welcomed our new Year 7 students to the College as part of the State Wide Orientation Day (11/12/18) earlier this week.

We again have strong enrolment numbers coming into Year 7 for 2019 with over 120 students expected.  The Orientation Day was very successful with our new Year 7 students enjoying the activities provided, together with being given the opportunity of touring the College and meeting staff and student leaders.

We welcome our new Year 7 students to Wheelers Hill Secondary College and we are sure that they like our other students at the College will strive 'to be the best that they can be' with their learning.

WHSC, 1980 - 2020 : 40th Anniversary Celebrations

In the last edition of the Newsletter, I made mention of our 40th Anniversary Celebrations.  We have set a date for 25/10/20.  The date is just under two years away however the level of organisation required for these sorts of events is significant.

We have had some interest from our College Community to assist us with this special celebration of our school.  Again, if any parents and students (past or present) would like to assist with this event, please contact the General Office to register your interest.

Value of the Week - Excellence

Our value of Excellence aligns with our very special Presentation Evening next week (18/12, 7pm).  We congratulate student award winners in advance on their wonderful achievements across a number of subject and co-curricular areas in 2018.  Well done to all of our student award winners.

And finally......

I would like to wish our College Community all the very best for the up and coming holiday period.  We enjoy terrific support from our families.  I thanked staff earlier for their commitment to student learning, and I also thank our parents and guardians for working so well in partnership with us to deliver quality outcomes for our students.

Please stay safe and enjoy the holiday period with families and friends.  I look forward to working with everyone in our College Community in 2019 to deliver quality learning and co-curricular opportunities for all of our students,
