Library News

Welcome to the first Library newsletter for the year.

My name is Jacquie McEvoy, and I am the new Teacher Librarian (ELC-12). I am looking forward to getting to know the wonderful students and staff here at BPS and hope to see many of them in the library!

I would like to thank my library colleagues who are helping me in this new role: Ms Kate Haskey, Ms Kirsty Adderley, and Mr Michael Champion. Their support over these first two weeks has been truly amazing.

As usual it has been a busy start to the library year as classes come in to borrow their text books, classes organise their borrowing lessons, and we begin library orientation and information sessions. All the primary classes have been in to borrow their reading books, and many of the Year 7, 8 and 9’s have been in as well. A reminder that all ELC-Year 6 students require their library bag for borrowing.

We will be discussing the Digital Technologies Policy with all the primary classes soon, and parents/caregivers will be receiving a copy of the Policy with an attached form. Please make sure this form is signed and returned to class teachers as soon as possible. This is an important Policy, as it is essential that the boys understand the responsibilities and expectations of using technology for their learning, and that they learn how to keep themselves safe whilst online. Please keep the discussion happening at home!

There are still some boys who have overdues from last year. We ask senior students to have another search at home and school for any overdue library or text books. They should drop these into the library as soon as possible, and then they can borrow their textbooks. Any lost or damaged books will be invoiced. Should any misplaced book be found, then payment will be refunded.

Finally, the 2019 student ID cards should be available by the end of the month. Distribution times will be announced in due course.
