Primary Co-Curricular

Primary Co-Curricular

Welcome back to another school year. The Summer co-curricular program is already in full swing with trainings having begun in most sports and meetings taking place this Thursday.

If your son nominated a Summer co-curricular option, he should have received some information from his coach this week either at the team meeting on Thursday morning or at the practice session. If your son has not received anything as yet, please ensure he makes contact with his coach so that he can collect the necessary information relating to his pursuit.

A list of all coaches and training times has been attached to this article.

Blackfriars has entered the following teams in Term 1:

  • Primary A1/A2 Tennis – Year 6/7
  • Primary B2 Tennis – Year 6/7
  • Year 4/5 Tennis
  • Primary B1 Cricket – Year 6/7
  • Year 4/5 Cricket
  • Kanga Cricket – Year 2/3

SEQTA

All co-curricular information can be found on the SEQTA page in the Well-being section. Everything from training times, fixtures and venue maps can be found on this tab. This page is updated weekly with all current information.

Fixtures

Some families have been requesting fixtures so that they can organise their schedules for the weeks ahead. Primary fixtures have not been officially released by the Sports Association for Adelaide Schools. As soon as fixtures are released, they will be available on the SEQTA page and hard copies will be sent home by team coaches.

Besides Kanga Cricket which is always played at the same venue, all Tennis, Cricket and Water Polo fixtures are played on a home and away basis meaning some games are played at other Adelaide Schools. Please be prepared for this.

All Primary fixtures will begin the weekend of 15-16 February. Water Polo has already started as it is part of the Secondary Schools Competition.

Parental Responsibilities

Some families have expressed confusion in regard to how their sons are to travel to sporting fixtures. Families are responsible for the transportation of their children to all sporting fixtures. The school does not provide this service at the Primary years nor has it presented this option in any information that has been distributed. Teaching staff are not permitted to transport students to various venues.

It is expected that families arrive at matches on time and that parents are there to pick up their children prior to the proposed finish times.

If this presents an issue, some options may include carpooling with other families or preparing a ride in advance with other team members. Most teams will incorporate a roster system so planning ahead for any absences can assist coaches with their planning.

Uniforms

The Uniform Shop is available for all of your uniform needs. Uniform specifications have been outlined in the Co-Curricular Handbook (SEQTA) and in the letters sent home with students.
