Congratulations to the following students who have qualified for the Diocesan Swimming Carnival to be held in Moree on Thursday 21st February.  Oliver Riley, Edward McCann, Myles Manning, Emily Brown, Stella O'Shea, Molly O'Mullane, Hugh Mitchell, Blake Judd, Kobi Hamlin, Ella Gallagher, Charlotte Newsome, Lilli Fitzgibbon, Darcy Williams, Jack Riley, Thomas Wheatley, Nathaniel Stimson, Tilani Smith, Alice Fahey, Eloise McCann, Emma Taggart, Jack Mitchell, Logan Fuller, William Judd, William Penberthy, Jack Westhorpe, Lauren Barnes, Harriet Wilde, Sophie Brown, Hugh Burnett, Ben Sawyer and Cruz Hamlin.  We wish these students the best of luck and know that they will represent St Nicholas Primary School with pride. Mrs Tyrrell will be the accompanying teacher on the day. Students will need to make their own way to Moree and back.

We also had 4 records broken on the day .....

Tilani Smith broke the 11yr girls 100m Freestyle set in 1995, 11yr girls 50m Backstroke set in 1989, 11yr girls 50m Butterfly set in 2017 and the 11yr girls 200m Individual Medley set in 2016. The record for 11yr girl 50m backstroke was particularly special as mum Karina Errington who set the record in 1989 was there on the day to congratulate Tilani. Alice Fahey also swam faster than the record time.

CODE OF CONDUCT

As the team sports for the year are all beginning, this is a timely reminder for players, coaches and parents of the code of conduct expected at St Nicholas.

Those parents who have very kindly volunteered to coach a team are to be listened to and all instructions to be followed by players both at training and when competing. Should you have an issue with your child's coach please speak to them privately without your children being present. Show respect for your coaches and their decisions.

Parents should not interfere or enter the playing field during a game as the on field officials should be left to adjudicate. If parents have concerns they should approach the coach at a break and not the children.

Should a player, coach or parent not respect this code of conduct while representing St Nicholas it may prevent their inclusion in teams in the future as this is not the image that we wish to portray in the wider community.

HOCKEY CLINIC

Notes were handed out this week for a free hockey clinic starting on Tuesday afternoons from 4pm. It runs for five weeks and sticks are provided. Please return the notes to Mrs Tyrrell as soon as possible so that teams can be arranged. This is for Year 3-6 children only.

BASKETBALL

Notes for interested students were sent out last week and are due back now. Unfortunately no nominations can be accepted. Students will be informed of their teams next week and given a team code for team registration purposes. Games will begin on either the 14th Feb or the 21st Feb.

For students in Kindergarten, Year 1, Year 2 or girls in Year 3 who are interested to learn basketball skills. The Aussie Hoops program will run for 8 weeks beginning the 14th Feb. This program costs $20. A free 'come and try day' will be held this afternoon - Kindergarten and Year 1 at 4:30pm and Year 2 and Year 3 girls from 5:15pm.
