Assistant Principal News

It has been a fantastic finish to 2022 with our College being able to celebrate two Semester Award Ceremonies together, our Major Awards Ceremony as a whole College and our Final Mass also together in Week 10. It has been wonderful to have Parents, Carers and Special Guests all back on site at the College joining us for these celebrations.

Junior Reports were also released on Friday, with students receiving a Semester Grade, indication of their commitment to learning and Commendations and Recommendations. I cannot stress how important it is for Parents and Students to read these reports together, reflect on the feedback and make a plan to improve for 2023. This should be the case for all students, not just those with Academic Strengths. For students who have received reports that identified a lack of commitment, diligence and cooperation, I suggest a deep reflection and plan to change in order to learn in the ‘Marian Spirit’ in 2023. For those that have done well, I encourage you to celebrate your success and then devise a plan to extend your learning in 2023.

I would also like to wish our Year 11 students all the best in their final Summer break before embarking on their HSC year. These upcoming holidays should provide some time for rest and relaxation, but also an opportunity to catch up on work, craft detailed study notes and extend their learning through additional reading, viewing and writing. I hope the holidays are fulfilling, productive and recharging.

On Thursday, our Year 12, 2022 will receive their HSC results and ATARS. We wish students all the best in their results, but also want to remind all parents and students that while we want our students to do well, we also believe that a number does not define an individual and that all members of our College Community can achieve great things in life. Staff look forward to sharing the good news of the results and improvement with students on Thursday.

Finally, on behalf of our College Community I would like to take this opportunity to thank our Acting Principal Mrs Lora Segrave for her dedicated and enthusiastic approach to this role over the last 6 months. Lora leaves the College in great shape for our incoming Principal for 2023 Mrs Penny Ludicke.

All the best for the holidays, may everyone have a Merry and Happy Christmas and we look forward to seeing you all back at Marian for the beginning of Term 1.

Yours in learning,

Damien Herb
