Grade 1/2

Celebrating each other and our learning!

LITERACY: Once of the most precious things we can do for our children is to feel known and loved. In Grade 2 we celebrate each child for one week where they become our V.I.P. and spend time telling us more about themselves, their lives and loved ones, their special things and they even read us a favourite book of their choice. Each Friday for Term 3 and 4 we have been writing letters to our V.I.P. for the week and they are then bound up together in a precious book and given to the child to share with their family. This is an excellent opportunity for us to practise the art of complimenting one another and showing kindness too. Here is some pictures during last Friday's writing session.

MATHS: We are revising concepts in Mathematics including Fractions and Shape. This week students were building and naming 3D shapes they created using toothpicks (for edges) and marshmallows (for vertices). This gave them a really tangible way to understand the features and terms of 3D shapes.  And yes, they may have eaten some of their materials afterwards....
