Child safety and wellbeing at Andersons Creek Primary School: information for families and the school community

The Victorian Government has announced new Child Safe Standards to further strengthen child safety across organisations, including schools. The new standards recognise the critical importance of families and the broader school community in maintaining and promoting child safety and wellbeing.

Andersons Creek Primary School has reviewed and updated our child safety policies and procedures to ensure they meet the requirements of the new standards. These are available to view on our school website.

We are committed to continuous improvement in our approach to child safety and wellbeing and welcome feedback from families and members of our school community on ways we can further strengthen our child safety policies, procedures and practices.

If you have any suggestions, comments or questions, please contact the school principal on 9844 2757 or at andersons.creek.ps@education.vic.gov.au.

Carols on the green

We will be holding our school Christmas carols next Tuesday 6 December from 3:30-5:00 pm. As part of the celebration, we will be running a sausage sizzle and selling drinks, icy poles and tasty treats.

If you are able to help out with the sausage sizzle and sales, please get in touch. We will need helpers from about 2:00-5:30 pm.

Our tasty treat sales are usually just for our students - this time they will be for our whole school community.  We’d love it if as many people as possible could help us put a big smile on everyone’s faces by donating home-made brownies, cupcakes, cookies, slices or any other treat that people would enjoy.

Almost anything goes (no nuts though) and please provide a list of ingredients along with your treats. Treats can be dropped off at the office on Tuesday morning between 8:45 and 9:15 or brought along just prior to the start of the carols.

Grade 5&6 surf days

With our recent cold and wet weather, it was a very pleasant surprise to have dry, mild and almost warm conditions for our grade 5 and 6 surf days (grades 5s yesterday and grade 6s today).

The surf days are a practical and fun way to emphasise the importance of water skills after our swimming lessons last week.

Thank you so much to Island Surf School for hosting and teaching our students. We all had a great time and we hope to see you again next year!

School disco

Such a busy time of year! Not only did we have the grade 6 surf day on Tuesday, we also had our final school disco for the year that evening.

Our theatre was the scene of some great dance and acrobatic moves...and also invaded by a herd of (thankfully friendly) dinosaurs.

Thanks to Ben from Primary DJ for weaving his musical magic and keeping everyone engaged and entertained.
