From the Principal

Welcome back to a new year, a new start, a new adventure.

We are excited to start 2023 after three challenging years. We welcome new families and staff to our community. And for the first time, our college classes are full, from Foundation (Prep) to Year 9 with waiting lists in most years.

There are some exciting opportunities being developed in each of our sub-schools and we look forward to sharing the ideas and hearing your responses.

As the school grows, we welcome new staff, and of course, many loved staff members moved on at the end of last year. We welcome the following new staff and some we already know.

A Tribute to Emily Wilson 1983 - 2023

Emily was our Plenty Valley Christian College captain in 2001.

From Plenty Valley, she graduated with honours as a Bachelor of Prosthetics and Orthotics from La Trobe university in 2005. She went on to serve God by serving others overseas and here in Australia. Em would return to La Trobe to lecture in her field and help grow the next generation of professionals. She was involved in the International Society for Prosthetics and Orthotics. Emily’s faith was the guiding and driving force in her life and was evidenced by her enthusiasm and care for others.

On 10 Jan 2023, Emily went to her permanent home with God after a prolonged illness. The funeral tribute from her family was properly entitled “a life well lived.” As a college we mourn her passing with her family and friends.

Quick Word about The Car Park

I think that we are blessed by a parent community that tries hard to make the complicated and frustrating drop-off and pick-up from school work. I love seeing so many of you let others in and be considerate.

Please be aware that new parents and students will not be up to the intricacies of our carpark and so things will be a little less efficient for the first little while. Patience and grace are always appreciated but particularly at the beginning of the term.

Do the expected thing – children are not traffic aware especially when they see their parent's car or are excited about getting into class. They will not look for vehicles that may drive the wrong way for convenience – they may check for vehicles coming from the right direction.

Traffic flow will be enhanced if you all continue to let people turn right in front of you when you are heading out of the carparks and allow one for one at intersections.
