The Kwong Lee Dow Young Scholars program is an academic enrichment program designed to support high achieving students moving from Year 10 into Year 11. Students who have achieved high levels of academic performance and have demonstrated evidence of leadership, active citizenship and community involvement are accepted into the program, based on a successful application completed by the student and their teachers. This is an initiative by the Australian Government designed to encourage senior students, tomorrow’s leaders, to actively participate in the life of their schools and local communities. The awards are open to all schools in Australia with students enrolled in Years 10 or 12.
The criteria incudes: Leadership, Teamwork, Values, Problem Solving, Resourcefulness, Communicator, Co-operator and Community Involvement. The program allows students the opportunity to mix with like-minded peers and future leaders. A tailored program of events and activities will support and enhance their secondary studies, inspire their career plans and provide opportunities to interact with the University of Melbourne community. In addition to this accepted for the program will get a taste of University life and access to University resources, academics and events at the Parkville campus.
