GOOGLE HOME

Some of our Year 7 ICT classes got to meet Google Home recently. This amazing device is a voice activated assistant powered by Google search.

It’s not available in Australia at the moment, but I’m sure a number of our students will put it on their birthday or Christmas lists this year. If you want to find out more about Google Home, including the commands that you can ask, go to https://madeby.google.com/home/.

VCE RESULTS

We would like to congratulate the students in the 2016 VCE Software Development class who achieved outstanding results last year. Nicholas Whittaker scored a perfect ‘50’ and a number of other students scored Over-40s. The class as a whole achieved McKinnon’s best scores ever in ICT and more Over-40 scores than any other school in Victoria. A number of these students have gone on to IT courses at University.

WEB COMP

The first Grok competition of the year starts on Monday 27 February. This will be a Web Competition and will run for the usual five weeks with new challenges released each Monday morning. The competition will teach students how to create web pages using HTML (hypertext markup language) and CSS (Cascading Style Sheets). Students who are interested in taking part in this competition should contact Mrs Munro.
