Year 10 Students
Careers staff have commenced the VCE / VCAL subject selection interviews with Year 10 students. Students have also had an interview with their Head of House, attended the Year 10 Careers Speakers Panel (Friday 19 July), and had the opportunity to attend the VCE and VCAL Information nights held earlier this term. A lot of support has been, and is, provided to the students as they undertake their career and course research and make big decisions about the program they will study for Year 11 and Year 12 and, if choosing the VCE, which subjects will be a part of their program.
Year 12 Students
This term, all Year 12 students will have a one-on-one Pathways Post Secondary School interview with a member of the Careers team. These interviews will commence late in the week of 12 August. If the student is planning to input a VTAC application, staff will sit with them and assist them with the process. All students (and their parents) have been invited to the VTAC Information evening on Monday night 12 August at 7.30pm in the Chapel and Performing Arts Centre. This is a 'must attend' event for any students planning to apply for courses through VTAC. An invitation to this event has been emailed to both students and their parents.
Careers interviews will be allocated alphabetically by surname and scheduled for Study periods. If a student is planning to apply for the La Trobe Aspire program, the ACU Community Access Program, a course with an early closing date, or they have another reason for seeking an earlier interview that might otherwise be scheduled, can they please email or talk to Mrs Borg and I will be very happy to accommodate you. Conversely, if you would rather be later in the process, or have a week or two you would like to avoid, please also let me know.
Open Days
Open Days commence this Sunday 28 July, with Swinburne University and TAFE first cab off the rank. Year 11 and Year 12 students have been emailed a Calendar of Open Days and Tips for Getting the Most out of Open Days. Year 10 students are receiving the Calendar at their Careers interview. All senior students should have Open Days firmly at the front of their mind for the next 5 weeks.
