Prayer

Into your hands, O Lord, we humbly entrust Thomas.  In this life you embraced him with your tender love;  deliver him now from every evil and bid him eternal rest.  We thank you for the gift of the life of Thomas; a son, a brother, a classmate, a team-mate, a peer and a student.

Be with our community, especially his family and all who loved him dearly.  Help us understand that as Christians, we are people of the resurrection and that in death we are born to eternal life.

Remind us that there is a time for every purpose under heaven and that this is a time for mourning.  Comfort us in our mourning and provide for us the strength to comfort those around us.

Eternal rest grant unto Thomas, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him.  May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen

Tribute to Tom Van Dijk

It was with a heavy heart that I advised the College community of the sudden and tragic death, due to natural causes, of our Year 12 student, Tom Van Dijk, over the weekend.  Tom was a wonderful student with many gifts which he freely offered to our College and to the wider community, one of which was his heartwarming smile.

We pay tribute to Tom, who was an outstanding academic student, a gifted sportsman and an accomplished musician, including being Concert Master of our College Orchestra.

While we mourn his loss, we also celebrate his life; a life as a son, a brother, a friend, a team-mate, a student.  Tom's family are comforted to know that even in loss, Tom has given to others as an organ donor.

We continue to pray for Tom, his family and friends at this sad time.

Prayers and Support for Tom

The College is conducting a Year 12 Parent Information Evening tonight to assist parents in guiding their children through this time of grief and loss.  A link to tonight's Parent Meeting has been emailed from Mr Lynch to Year 12 parents today.

On Friday evening at 6.00 pm we will also be conducting an online prayer vigil to pray for Tom, support one another and celebrate his life.  A link for this prayer vigil will be published on Friday.

Year 12 2022 - Our New School Leaders

Today was a special day for our current Year 11 students and for the College.  At their year meeting this morning we announced to our Year 11 students our Student Leadership Team for 2022.  I am very pleased to announce Will Staber as School Captain for 2022 and Ronan Crispe and Ben Cullen as School Vice Captains.  The full Student Leadership Team for 2022 is provided below. Congratulations to all these young men.  We are fortunate to have such exceptional students as our school leaders - they follow a fine tradition of leadership in the College.

The Prefects will be placed into their respective leadership portfolios over the coming days and these student leaders will form working groups with all the Year 11 students to work together for the College as they move into their HSC year and are the Class of 2022.

St Pius X Feast Day Holiday - Monday 30 August

Last Saturday,  21 August, the Church  celebrated the Feast Day of St Pius X. Pope Pius X was an extraordinary and popular Pope who left a beautiful legacy of enabling young people to take the Sacrament of Holy Communion. We will acknowledge this Feast Day through our  Feast Day holiday on Monday 30 August.  There will be no classes held on Monday.

Students will return to online classes on Tuesday 31 August.

Last Day for Classes for Term 3

The last day of classes for students for Term 3 will be Thursday 16 September.  On that Thursday, normal lessons will be held for Periods 1 - 3, then Period 4 will be an online assembly and dismissal.

Term 4 will commence on Tuesday 5 October for staff and students, with Monday 4 October being the Labour Day long weekend.
