PRINCIPAL'S REPORT
As we complete another week of lockdowns and remote and flexible learning, I would first like to thank and congratulate all our families for your diligence, hard work, patience and perseverance in juggling the many challenges of working from home and supporting your child/ren with their remote learning. It is most certainly exhausting, but it is one of the many sacrifices we need to make to keep our community safe, especially with positive cases now present in neighbouring regional areas.
The Premier stated that ‘Children under 10 account for around a quarter of the cases in the current Victorian outbreak’, COVID-19 response commander Jeroen Weimar said, ‘while 44 per cent of positive cases were under 20 years old.’ This Delta variant seems to be very different from previous outbreaks and we all need to do our bit to break the chain of this infection. The Premier also highlighted the new changes with the introduction of the Essential Work permits and the recommendation of Primary School children wearing masks while at school. The students that have been attending onsite this week have been amazing transitioning to mask wearing – they have been our little superheroes, doing their bit. I do say this a lot, but I am so proud to be an Eastie!
It has been wonderful this week to see many more faces online joining their grade’s WebEx sessions to enhance their learning. A fabulous effort from staff and their students and again a huge thank you for the behind the scene support of our parents and carers to make this possible. Let’s hope this Lockdown doesn’t go on for too long. Hang in there everyone and stay strong – we will get through this together.
