Wellbeing

Hi Everyone

I think we all might be feeling bit of exasperation & deflation at the moment, as we are all once again plunged in yet another lockdown with very short notice and strong restrictions. It is important for us to know and acknowledge how we are feeling.

Name it & Tame it:- Naming our feeling is an important step in Taming how we feel so we don’t become overwhelmed. However, as important as acknowledge our emotions, it is also important to take the next step of reaching out for help – if needed. But also implementing healthy changes & strategies to help us keep coping & thriving in this ongoing Covid era.

Lifeline has some excellent tips & videos on how to get help when we need, and how to put in place in our lives healthy changes that do make a difference. I’m sure you can find even more through a quick Google.

While we might not be able control lockdowns, restrictions and/or Covid Case numbers, it is important to recognise & focus on what we can control. Our attitude, behaviour & feelings toward ourselves, others & our COVID situation. Let’s proactively practise self-compassion alongside showing others compassion. Let’s be Kind to ourselves & others. If we support ourselves and others in making the positive changes, it helps us all mentally & emotionally cope, together we can get to the other side of Lockdown 7.0

Kid’s Helpline, Beyond Blue & Lifeline are excellent websites to check out for ideas to keep emotionally well during this emotionally tough time.

Please reach out to the Wellbeing Team if you or your family need some support.

Take care & stay Safe,

Jesse Winter – School Chaplain on behalf the MRK-6 Wellbeing Team.

Uniform Pride

Isn’t it funny that no matter how our team plays, whether they win or lose, we still wear their colours with pride? People may not even like the colours black or white, but would still wear the magpies colours with pride.

We may get mocked or teased when our team loses, but we still stand tall and put our team colours back on for the next game, in hopes of a better result. Why do you think this is? Possibly because we realise the outside team colour does not define the end result. It’s the inside determination and perseverance which can change things around, and just like that, we find ourselves celebrating and cheering the wins.

Now stop and think a moment. It’s your team’s colours that unites you with them. But it’s also their talent and character that draws you to them, or it may even be that you have inherited liking them from your family or friend’s perspectives. No matter the reason, you are proud to be a supporter of your team.

So why not have that same pride with the uniform of Miners Rest Primary School. We want our students to feel that sense of connection and belonging and a simple way for us to do that is through wearing the school uniform with pride.

Below are our options for uniform that we ask you support your children in wearing when we return back onsite and push for that pride in belonging:

· Navy blue shorts and/or track pants

· Navy beanies for winter to be worn to school (not inside the classrooms)

· Outside jackets can be worn but must be taken off in the classroom

· Navy blue windcheater / rugby top with school logo

· Blue and white check dress

· Light blue t-shirt or polo top with logo

· Navy broad brimmed hat, (during Terms 1 and 4). For safety reasons hats with drawstring cords are not recommended, as these could pose a choking hazard.

· Appropriate footwear, e.g. runners, sneakers, leather shoes, boots etc. (Open toed sandals or thongs are not permitted for safety reasons).

· Jewelry which poses a hazard, e.g. long chains and chunky ear-rings are not recommended. If there are concerns for safety, students may be asked to remove them.
