The Talk Around Traf

Last Day of Term 3 - 1.40 pm finish
A reminder that Friday 17th September is the last day of Term 3. Students will be dismissed at 1:40 pm. Buses will also depart at this time.
Thank you to our school community for your continued support and flexibility through another challenging school term. We hope the school vacation period provides you with an opportunity for some rest and relaxation.
Term 4 is scheduled to resume on the 4th October. Any changes to school operations as a result of future Government announcements will be communicated via Compass.
Footy Colours Day
Thursday 16th September is Footy Colours Day. We encourage students and staff to wear the colours of their favourite Australian Rules Football, or other sporting team.
Rock Fest 2021
Rock Fest has moved online this year and music teacher, Ricky Allan and the students at Trafalgar Primary School have been quickly adapting to the change. So far two of our bands have been able to prerecord their songs. We encourage the community to view these on YouTube!
R U OK? Day
Thursday 9 September is dedicated to reminding everyone that every day is the day to ask, “Are you OK?” and support those struggling with life's ups and downs. Do you know how the people in your world are really going? Your genuine support can make a difference whatever they are facing, big or small.
So, don’t wait until someone’s visibly distressed or in crisis. Make a moment meaningful and ask them how they’re really going. Are they really OK? Ask them today. Your conversation could change a life.
Lions Club Junior Public Speaking Competition
This program gives students in primary schools the chance to develop their ability to speak in public. River T and Mayuri G represented Trafalgar Primary School. This event was held online for the first time. Well done to both girls!
We thank the Lions club for the opportunity to be involved in this program.
Book Week
Respectful Relationships
Everyone in our community deserves to be respected, valued and treated equally. We know that changes in attitudes and behaviours can be achieved when positive attitudes, behaviours and equality are embedded in our education settings.
Respectful Relationships is about embedding a culture of respect and equality across our entire community, from our classrooms to staffrooms, sporting fields, fetes and social events. This approach leads to positive impacts on student’s academic outcomes, their mental health, classroom behaviour, and relationships between teachers and students.
Together, we can lead the way in saying yes to respect and equality and creating genuine and lasting change so that every child can achieve their full potential.
Topic 1 – Emotional Literacy
As identified in previous Newsletters, there are 8 topics in the Respectful Relationships Curriculum. Emotional literacy is the ability to understand ourselves and other people. Students will learn how to understand, express and manage their own emotions, build empathy, and to respond appropriately to the emotions of others. Building a large vocabulary for emotions helps to increase emotional literacy and build self-awareness and empathy for others.
Below is an example lesson that students from the Year 3/4 would engage with as part of our Respectful Relationships curriculum.
Staff Update
Mrs Whitney Churchill in P1 has accepted a tutoring position with another school for Term 4. Congratulations Whitney. We wish you all the best in your new role. Mr Rick White will be Mrs Churchill’s replacement. We thank Mr White for his flexibility.
Mrs Raelene Gleeson will continue in Ms Megan Woolfe’s class on Fridays. We thank Mrs Gleeson for her continued support.
Miss Rana will continue in Ms Laidlaw's class for Term 4. Thanks again to Miss Rana for your continued support in LAI.
Garden Beds
Mr Hall and various students have been very busy around the school grounds making up some new garden beds and spreading mulch. Great work! We have also had some water tanks installed. All very exciting.
The Community Bank Trafalgar & District would like to invite the Students to participate in our drawing and colouring competition that we are hosting in celebration of ‘Spring’.
We were hoping to get lots of colourful entries that we can display in branch and we are offering a number of prizes for the lucky winners.
