Transdisciplinary theme: How We Organise Ourselves
CENTRAL IDEA
Economic Activity Depends On Systems Of Production, Exchange And Consumption Of Goods And Services.
As an International Baccalaureate world school, authorised to teach the Primary Year’s Programme, we explore six transdisciplinary themes each year.
This unit will focus on developing an understanding of the features of a successful business by exploring team work, planning and organization. The students will investigate the way businesses function and study the impacts they have on society and the environment in a local and global context.

Action
Year 5 students will be involved in a wide range of experiences during this Unit of Inquiry. Students will be involved in taking ‘action’ in their involvement and contribution to the Year 5 economy where they will experience the management of finances and the running of a country. There may be other actions that this unit instigates either at home or at school, and we welcome the opportunity to celebrate student’s enthusiasm.
