From the Principal

Dear Parents, Staff, Students and Friends

Funding For Building Works – Your Future School

I am pleased to inform you that B2 Architecture have been appointed as the architects to design our learning spaces on the 7-10 Campus.  We are now in AMP (Asset Management Plan) Phase 2, master planning, which will involve more opportunities for further input from our students, staff and parents.  We look forward to engaging you and the community around these possibilities and you having a voice in our future school.

Covid Lockdowns

Thank you to all of our wonderful staff, students and parents/guardians for your efforts during the lockdowns (including the current one) we have had this year.  It is a real credit to everyone on how we have transitioned into and out of these periods of remote learning.  The number one priority for everyone is health and wellbeing during this time, along with a structured teaching and learning program with live lessons and check-ins with students. Attendance for students during remote learning is so important to ensure continuity of learning and so we can help support their wellbeing.

VCE And Middle School Course Counselling

Over this recent period, including remote sessions during the current lockdown, we have been undertaking course counselling with our current Years 7 to 11 students in planning around their future subject choices and 2022. Thank you to all students and parents/guardians for your involvement in this as required.  Thank you to Ms Sharon Bourne, our Sub School Teams, Leading Teachers, Learning Specialists and Principal Team for their efforts.

Parent Opinion Survey

We are participating in the DET (Department of Education and Training) 2021 Parent Opinion Survey to gain further insights and feedback from our parents/guardians as to what we are doing well and areas we can improve on.  Thank you to everyone who is participating in this survey for your time and thoughts.  It is a random selection of parents who receive an invitation and if you have, we would love to hear from you.  Please contact Ms Rhonda Gifford or Ms Helen Wilson if you have any questions about this survey.

Australian Mathematics Competition

Thank you to Ms Kate Burgess and our Maths faculty for organising this opportunity for our students on Thursday 5 August prior to lockdown.  Thank you to all Years 7 and 8 teachers for their efforts supervising this test, and to all students who participated including those in other year levels.

Mathematics Optima Semper Certificates

Congratulations and thank you to our Maths faculty on recognising student growth in their learning and demonstration of their in classes. It is an absolute pleasure to go into classes and acknowledge our students.  They are achieving some wonderful improvement.  Well done to all students who have received a certificate.  Thank you to Ms Kate Burgess who has spent a lot of time organising these and a focus on improvement.

Reading Certificates

It has been a real thrill to sign reading certificates for students and discuss with them more about their reading and growth in this area.  It is fantastic to hear from a range of students as to how they are continuing to develop their reading and interest in different genres.  Thank you to Ms Emily Johnson and all of our teachers involved.  One of our students, Neko McTaggart (Year 7F), has read over 85,767 pages, what an amazing effort!

Outdoor Education Unit 3 And 4 Ski Camp

Prior to lockdown, some of our Unit 3 and 4 Outdoor Education students participated in their ski camp at Mount Buller and Mount Stirling, having a wonderful time learning more about the alpine and sub-alpine environment. Thank you to Ms Sarah Foley for leading the trip, well supported by her proactive and engaged team: Ms Cheryl Hodgson, Mr Liam O’Connor and alumni Chelsea Morris and Jobe Gardner.

Traffic Reminder

For when we are back on-site, a reminder for all parents/guardians to not park across our neighbour’s driveways and show courtesy to each other and to the school’s adjoining residences.  We appreciate that the morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up time is busier in and around our campuses, please continue to adhere to all road rules.
