FACTOR CHATTERBOXES in 5CG

Year 5 have settled straight back into their Maths lessons this term and have been using this week to consolidate their knowledge and understanding of multiplication factors by making chatterboxes! Students constructed the chatterbox and then quizzed each other on finding the different factors of each given number.

Shelby, Josh and Marbee

If you find yourself stuck in a maze or are looking for some students to help you follow some clear instructions, come and see Shelby, Josh or Marbee in 2W. These clever students, along with others across all of Year 2, have been working hard this week on following and giving sets of instructions to find their way to different locations.

NAPLAN INFORMATION - Years 3 and 5

As mentioned in previous newsletters, Years 3 and 5 will complete the National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) assessments this term. Students have been working hard in class to prepare themselves for these important assessments, and the teachers will continue to support all students as we begin our final preparations.

The NAPLAN Online assessment window starts on Tuesday 10th May and finishes on Friday 20th May 2022. Students will complete four assessments across four separate days during Week 3, with any catch up sessions occuring in Week 4 for any students who are absent. The timetable for the assessments during Week 3 can be seen below:

In order to set children up for success and for them to be ready to try their best during their NAPLAN assessments, please consider encouraging these simple tips:

  • Get plenty of rest! A bedtime routine that allows for lots of rest and recuperation will help the children be refreshed and ready each day.
  • Encourage reading before bed to limit screen time. Reading is a great way for children to wind down each day away from the distractions of technology!
  • Eat a good breakfast! A nutritious start to the day will give children the energy they need to concentrate during the assessments.
  • Be punctual! Assessments will start at 9:15 am each day during Week 3. Make sure children are at school in plenty of time and don't feel rushed in the mornings.
  • And most importantly...make sure the children relax and take a deep breath! Everyone wants them to simply try the best, and put in the excellent efforts that we all know that they can!
