Holy Week

"Mary ran and ran, all the way to the city.  She had never run so fast or so far in all her life.  She felt like she could run forever.  She didn't even feel like her feet touched the ground.  The sun seemed to be dancing and gleaming and bounding across the sky, racing with her and shining brighter than she could ever remember in the clear, fresh air.  And it seemed to her that morning, as she ran, almost as if the whole world had been made anew, almost as if the whole works was singing for joy - the trees, tiny sounds in the grass, the birds....her heart.

Was God really making everything sad come untrue?  Was she making even death come untrue?  She couldn't wait to tell Jesus' friends."

The story of Easter can be marked with such sadness as the reality of what Jesus experienced is shared.  As early years educators we are extremely sensitive in how we share the true meaning of Easter with our children whilst balancing the truth of what is foundational to our beliefs as a faith based Centre.  The above excerpt shares the joy that was experienced by Mary Magdalene who met with Jesus face to face after his miraculous resurrection.  From walking in grief to visit Jesus' burial site, one can only image the myriad of emotions she would have felt running to tell their dearest friends that he was alive.

Through reading the recount of Jesus death and resurrection, it can be hard to fathom the reality - that this story is one for the ages.  A truth that will live on until Jesus returns and reconciles the entire world back to God's original intent.  One where all creation is in harmonious relationship with him.

This Easter long weekend, I pray that you are able to consider where God could make areas of your life 'untrue' and bring hope, joy and life into areas that may have seemed lost.

An Easter Video to share over the weekend.

A song to enjoy:
