NAPLAN 2022

NAPLAN assesses literacy and numeracy – important skills that each child needs to succeed in school and life. The NAPLAN tests are designed to help us make sure students are on track with their literacy and numeracy development. Students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 participate in NAPLAN tests for reading, writing, conventions of language (spelling, grammar and punctuation) and numeracy.

In Weeks 3 and 4, Term 2, our school will participate in NAPLAN. In preparation, our students completed the NAPLAN Online Practice Test on April 7th and will be completing some practice questions in their Maths and English classes.

Tailored Testing

NAPLAN Online Reading, Conventions of Language and Numeracy tests automatically adapt to a student’s performance and allows each student to demonstrate their knowledge with questions that match their test performance. For more information, watch this short clip below from ACARA.

Absences

If a student is absent for one or more of the tests, they will have the opportunity to complete to sit at least one missed test on Wednesday 18th May.

What students need to bring:

Students will have the choice to use AUDIO options in the NAPLAN tests. All students are to bring HEADPHONES that plug into their FULLY CHARGED Chromebook. KCC provided these headphones in the Year 7 book pack. AirPods are not able to be used during the NAPLAN tests.

Technology

The Australian Curriculum Assessment and Reporting Authority (ACARA) who are conducting NAPLAN ONLINE have developed a locked-down browser  (LDB)  that will allow the students to run the testing on a secure testing platform. When students use the Locked Down Browser to access an online exam they are unable to print, copy, go to another URL or access other applications.

To see the types of questions and interactive features of NAPLAN Online, visit the public demonstration site.
